What To Expect

IEPSCV welcomes everyone to join us in this creative adventure; 2E, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, ADD, Cerebral Palsy, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Downs Syndrome, and all developmentally disabled artists and their families are welcome here!  We love seeing how our campers view the world differently and tackle activities in their own unique ways. We encourage new ways to get to the end result and adore learning from our camper’s creative process. Campers will get a chance to shine in an original one act musical theater production, using movement, music, and acting skills.  Campers will work as a team with instructors and each other to create a magical showcase to present to you on a real stage in a real theater! They have the opportunity to participate however they feel comfortable, acting and dancing, providing music and sound effects, or simply contributing their unique insight to the creative process.

The day starts with an ice breaker activity to get everyone warmed up and comfortable with each other building social skills and peer to peer interactions. We will work as a team and choose the musical numbers to perform in the performance. Throughout the week campers will use improvisation games to explore the stories and discover their inner magic.  Movement sessions will bring out new ways to express ourselves through dance, get our energy out, and tell the story through how the characters move that coincides with our theatrical journey. Music sessions will explore how rhythm and mood are created by different types of sounds. Campers will learn several instruments and how to play them in a group setting.  We put all  three elements of music, dance and theater together to create a new and exciting show for you and your family.
